Beth and Pam in the nursery

Beth and Pam in the nursery

Today we left Katherine in the church nursery for the first time. Amazingly I was ready last week but Sam was not. I think it is because I end up taking care of Katherine during the service, usually in the nursing mom’s room. Therefore, I am not able to get much out of the sermon.

Everything went well. We dropped Katherine off and our good friends John and Pam were woking in the infant room. I went back between services to feed her and they said she had not cried at all and was very happy.

The best part is that I was able to totally enjoy and concentrate on the service. It was about money and treasures.

New China Cabinet

Filed under: Uncategorized, home improvement — Christy at 11:13 pm on Saturday, June 3, 2006

This week a very exciting event happened - I finally got a new china cabinet. This was my birthday present from Sam in September 2004. It has taken me quite a long time to get it due to the dining room saga. (It is my own fault, not Sam’s that it has taken so long.)

For those of you who do not know about my new love of tables, here is the story. When Sam and I were dating, I helped him pick out a new table for the breakfast room in his new house. When we got married, I also had a casual breakfast room table which we sold. One place to eat - one table. Then we moved to our new house in Lake Highlands. Well, my dad’s mother had recently passed away and her table was sitting in my parents garage not being used. It was not my favorite table, white wood with blue vinyl chairs, but it was free until we got something better. Two places to eat - two tables, the score is still good. Well, then my mom’s mother passed away and there is a really nice, Ethan Alan table from the 1950’s. It is in great shape and much more stylish than the blue vinyl seats. So we put that table in the breakfast room and move the white table with two blue chairs into the multi-purpose room (really a future baby room, but Sam was in denial). It was a great table to leave scrapbook supplies on all the time. The other two blue chairs became office chairs and worked great. Score - two eating areas, three tables.

Dallas, Taylor, Macy, Kayley, Katherine and April

Dallas, Taylor, Macy, Kayley, Katherine and April

Yesterday I was able to get together with some of my good friends from high school. Alison (Sorrel) West was in town from Pittsburgh. I see her about once a year. We got together at Tanna (Smith) Wisner’s house in Richardson with all of our kids. The kids (except for Katherine) had fun on the slip-n-slide, and playing together in the backyard. Alison has three kids - Macy (6.5), Dallas (4.5) and Kayley (almost 2). Tanna has three kids - Taylor (6) and April (almost 3). The moms had a great time catching up.

Playing with the taggie blanket

Playing with the taggie blanket

This week Katherine has discovered her toys. She is learning how to use her hands to intentionally grab or hit things. It has been so fun to see. Here she is exploring the loops on a blanket that Sam’s college friend Gayle made and gave us way before we knew if we were even having a boy or girl. Thanks Gayle!

Another fun thing that Katherine is doing is talking a lot. She especially loves to “sing” to Sam. It is so cute!

friday meetings

career on fire!

career on fire!

Nothing is worse than a friday meeting that just drags on and on! My meeting is officially on a break, but there is NO way I’m going back. It was SO painfully boring that I just can’t stand it any longer. What’s worse is that it is only partially applicable to me and NONE of my coworkers bothered to attend. If they try to make me the expert on sub-contractor planning and procurement systems…. I will never file a TPS report again!!!

Baby Yogis

Today I went to Itsy Bitsy yoga again. They took a picture of me and all the other “yogis”. I really like yoga. It is fun.
