Hippie Chick!

Hippie Chick!

My Nana and Pops just got back from a trip to California. They went to a family camp where DTS professors spoke each day. They had a lot of fun and want to take the entire family next year. I think that would be a lot of fun.

After family camp, Nana and Pops spent the weekend with Uncle Will and Aunt Jaime. They went to a craft and wine festival. They bought me this tie-dye onesie. I think it is pretty cool. They bought it in patriotic red, white and blue so that when I outgrow it, Scooter can wear it. (We don’t know if Scooter is a boy or a girl yet)

You can see that I am sitting up. I can sit for a little while but I tend to fall over to the side so mommy props me up in the hole of the Boppy pillow. That way when I fall over I don’t bonk my head. Pretty soon I will not need the pillow and I will be able to sit all by myself.

I am also trying to learn to crawl. I pull up onto all fours and rock back and forth. The problem is that when I lift my arm to try to move forward I do a faceplant. It does not hurt, but it is frustrating. I am really good at scooting backwards and rolling sideways, I just can’t seem to figure out how to go forward. Hopefully I will learn soon though I am not sure that Mommy is ready for this.

Sometimes, I amaze myself

Today I am babysitting my friend’s 7 month old Katelyn. It gives me a taste of what it would be like to have twins. I volunteered to do it today because we will be having playgroup over here. That means I will have several other moms to help with an extra kid and it is a day that I will be staying home. I can’t imagine running errands with two babies though many people do it.

Katelyn and Katherine played hard for about an hour. Neither can really crawl, but they can both get around by rolling and scooting. I put them on the floor in Katherine’s room with a bunch of toys and they had a blast rolling around, touching each other and exploring the toys.

Then…they both got tired. They are both sound asleep. And, thus, I amaze myself. I thought that I would not get a single break because they would have off schedules. I guess that is the advantage of twins. They wear themselves out.

Crepe Myrtle

Tonight Sam took Katherine outside to play. She was fascinated with the Crepe Myrtle and it’s pretty pink flowers. (Of course, don’t all girls love pink!)

She is wearing her new shirt that Sam’s college friend Gayle sent. It says, “My dad is a superhero.” It is pretty stinkin’ cute!

She crashed earlier than usual and fell asleep on Sam. We just put her to bed without even changing her clothes.

Multiple photos

Many, many thanks to my wonderful brother-in-law George who has spent many hours updating the family websites. Thanks to him, we are now able to have multiple pictures for each blog entry. I am too tired tonight to write anything creative and I am too lazy to go back and add pictures to all the other posts, so I am going to just add a few random pictures that did not make previous entries in this post. Enjoy

Quade says, “peace out dude” as he wears the Union Jack in honor of the fourth of July. As Heather said, we have to know what freedom we are celebrating.

Katherine will not follow in the footsteps of her mom and dad if we can help it. Dr. Pepper, while tasting very good is actually very bad for you.

Katherine loves her exersaucer. Thanks Ailene.

Asleep in the sling again. How can she do that? It looks so uncomfortable.

Happily playing with cousin Ty. He sure is a happy boy!

Where’s that?!?

So many people!

So many people!

Tonight we hosted our Sunday school class pot luck and praise. We have been having the potluck every month for the past three years. They have been a lot of fun. The last few months they have had lower attendance, maybe 10 couples. Tonight there was better attendance. We had 47 adults and 8 kids, most under the age of 1.

Usually when we have a large party like this, we set up tables in the back yard. But, it has been way too hot this week, over 100. Then we had a much needed rain. So, we were moving furniture to the garage and setting up tables in the den and the bedrooms. It was pretty crazy.

After dinner we moved the tables out of the den and all listened to Trey and Marci share about their year overseas. It was great to see them again.

We both really enjoy entertaining and feel blessed to have a home that we can use for ministry and fellowship.

Hey Ethan

Fun with Ethan

Fun with Ethan

Last night we went to dinner at Kane and Chantele’s house in Frisco. Kathy, Chad and Sammy went as well. We were all friends back in the day at A&M. We had a great time catching up, eating great food and watching the kids play and interact.

Ethan just turned 2. He really enjoyed playing with the babies. It is so amazing how many changes kids go through at this early stage. Katherine changes daily. Then, when I look at Ethan who is 18 months older, it is amazing what all he is able to do. He was an incredibly well behaved and polite little guy. He has a really cool website too.

If you go there, make sure you hit refresh so that you can see all the cool banners at the top of the page. It makes our website look pretty basic.

Bath time, play time

Playing with the baby in the mirror

Playing with the baby in the mirror

Katherine has come a long way when it comes to bath time. Her first bath was a disaster, she screamed the entire time. She gradually got to where she tolerated and even liked her baths.

Tonight, we rounded another corner, Katherine began to really enjoy and even play during bath time. She played with her rubber duck, the number 8 and the thing stuck to the tub. She also had a lot of fun talking to the baby in the mirror. It was so fun that we even got the video camera out.

Still practicing

This is a great place for my bowl.

This is a great place for my bowl.

We are still putting Katherine in her high chair every night and filling her tray with bowls, cups, spoons and the other night, one of her dinosaur bowling pins. She decided that her bowl would make a good hat. We thought it was so cute. I can’t wait until she decides her bowl makes a good hat while that bowl is filled with peas! Keep your eyes posted for that blog in the future.

Smile!

5 month portrait

5 month portrait

When Katherine was dedicated at church on Father’s Day, she was wearing the dress that I wore when I was christened. I had to take an official portrait to commemorate the event. Unfortunatly mom did not have an official portrait of me wearing the dress.

It was a hard picture to get. Katherine is such a smiley baby but now that she is rolling over and so active, she did not want to sit still for the photo. Everytime we would get her to smile, she would get so excited that she would smile with her entire body, lifiting her legs up. That is why the picture we chose is not of her entire body which is unfortunate since she had on some very adorable shoes.
