Me and Santa

Me and Santa

Nana and Mommy took me shopping today. We were looking for stuff to redo the bathroom - pretty boring. Then we saw the Christmas decorations. Wow! They are so pretty. I found a Santa that was just my size. I can’t wait for Christmas.

Thanksgiving #1

My first Thanksgiving feast

My first Thanksgiving feast

Today I celebrated my first Thanksgiving. My Uncle Will and Aunt Jaime came all the way from California to see me. We had to celebrate early because they could not come here next weekend for the actual holiday. Mom bought me special baby food. I had a chicken and sweet potato dinner and pumpkin pie dessert. Don’t worry, it was organic babyfood made of pumpkin with a little cinnamon and nutmeg. It was yummy.

I have a lot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. I am thankful for my family, my puppy, my toys and my friends. I am a very lucky little girl.

Suprise Lunch

Katherine and Oliver sharing a treat.

Katherine and Oliver sharing a treat.

Today Katherine and I ran into Chrys and Oliver at Central Market. I actually saw cute Oliver in his shopping cart first. I was way out of my normal stomping grounds up in Plano so it was fun and unexpected to see her. I was meeting two friends there for lunch and so Chrys and Oliver joined us.

Katherine did a pretty good job eating a cereal, broccoli and carrot mixture before sharing very messy teething biscuits with Oliver. He sure showed her how to eat by quickly finishing off two jars of baby food.

While at Central Market we bought a lot of new food for Katherine to try - chicken and sweet potato baby food, tofu, dried beans to mix with her cereal, and yo baby yogurt.

Nana and Pops

Today Nana and Pops took me and Katherine to the Dallas Arboretum. It was a gorgeous day out there. Katherine slept through the entire outing. I really enjoy spending time with my parents and it is so fun to see Katherine interacting with them. They are wonderful grandparents. Thanks Nana and Pops.

The teeth are coming

The teeth are under there, I promise!

The teeth are under there, I promise!

Yes, Katherine is 8.5 months old and has no teeth yet. BUT, they are coming. about 2 days ago I could see a dent in her her gum and I could see the white tooth down in that dent. Yesterday I could feel the tooth and barely see it and today I feel 2 teeth. Katherine does not like to have me look at them though she loves to have me feel them. So, this is the best picture I have. All tongue and no teeth. Sorry about that. I will get a better one later.

Heat of November

Filed under: Katherine — Christy at 11:14 pm on Saturday, November 11, 2006

This week it was very hot for November, in the 80’s. There is a section in Katherine’s closet where I have summer clothes that still fit so that I can pull them out for a day like today. Since she is on the small size, some of her clothes have not fit at the right time.

From November 2006

So, I pulled out an old favorite from Aunt Jaime. It is a 3-6 month size, but you can see it it still big on Katherine.

Katherine is shoing her skills pulling toys out of the toybox, climbing mom’s headboard to look out the window and shredding a magazine.

Climbing the walls

Filed under: Katherine — Christy at 11:01 pm on Saturday, November 11, 2006

Katherine is pulling up on everything and trying to climb as well. Her favorite is when it is time for a diaper change. First she flips over the second you put her on the table.

Then she pushes up in the crawling position.

Then she sits. Then she pulls up using the wall as support.

This entire thing happens in about 5 seconds. Notice my hand in the picture. Standing on the diaper dable is not safe!

Puffs

I think I can get it.

I think I can get it.

I have started giving Katherine a few veggie puffs as a snack and to occupy her while we are eating. She is working on her fine motor skills as she chases them around the high chair tray, picks them up and puts them in her mouth. It is much easier said than done. Once the puff gets a little wet, it starts to dissolve and it sticks to her finger. I thought she had done a great job because they were all gone. When I got her out of her high chair, they were all over the seat. I have also notice that she “accidently” dropped one which Hooligan promptly ate. I hope that does not become a trend.

Little Froggy

Little Froggy

Katherine looked so cute in her frog towel after Sam gave her a bath that I just had to take a picture.

We took a baby sign language class and frog was one of the signs we learned. It possibly may be the first sign she did. The baby sign for frog is sticking out your tongue. One day when in her bathroom she was sticking our her tongue. Well she was by her shower curtain (which she loves) and it has frogs, ducks and turtles all over it. She did the correct sign in the correct context, but I have a feeling it was just a fluke.

Helper

I found a spoon!

I found a spoon!

Katherine is getting very mobile and she follows me all over the house. It really annoys her when I am in the kitchen cooking or cleaning up because I pace back and forth down our long skinny kitchen and she keeps trying to be right by me. I finally stopped long enough to load the dishwasher. She pulled right up and wanted to help me unload. Luckily I loaded a spoon first which is pretty safe. I think most of my friends have pictures of their kids on the dishwasher door. She has not quite learned to climb in yet but I am sure it is coming.
