Katherine’s First Christmas - Part 2
After celebrating Christmas with Christy’s family, we traveled to celebrate with Sam’s family. We arrived Christmas day and everyone else was already there. We had our traditional Christmas dinner and hung out before dressing the kids in their Christmas PJs and sending them off for bed.

Christmas morning (actually the 26th) we got up earlier than I would have liked and opened stockings. Then we had our Christmas breakfast of biscuits and gravy, eggs and bacon.

Opening presents was a little chaotic. We had 14 people, each with a pile or presents to open. We try to open one at a time but there were to many that we did not stick with that. Katherine again had a great time with opening gifts. It was a struggle to keep her from eating the paper.

Her big gift from Grammy, a wooden activity cube, was a hit with all of the kids. Katherine loves playing with it.

Later that afternoon some of up took a walk through the neighborhood to go play on the school playground.

The afternoon before we left Emily, Nathan and Uncle Justin worked on drawing. Uncle Justin is a talented artist, his medium of choice - skin. He is a tattoo artist in San Diego. You can see a little of his tattoo on his left hand. There was a funny dialogue between Emily and Uncle Justin that went something like this:
Uncle Justin mentions something about his job.
Emily, “You have a job, what do you do?”
Justin, “I draw on people.”
“With crayon or marker?”
“I use permanent ink”.
“So it won’t wash off?”
“No”
(With tears) “What happens if they changed their mind?”
Uncle Justin thinks Emily asks tough questions. I love the questions of children.
