Egg Hunt #3

Filed under: Katherine, Christy's Family — Christy at 10:36 pm on Tuesday, April 10, 2007

By the end of the weekend, Katherine was an expert at hunting for Easter Eggs. After church we went to Christy’s cousins house for lunch. They have two boys who are in elementary school. They had an Easter egg hunt for the boys and Katherine. Nana and Pops could not believe how good at getting the eggs Katherine was.

Easter Egg Hunt #2

Filed under: Katherine, Sam's Family — Christy at 10:30 pm on Tuesday, April 10, 2007

Saturday we got together with Sam’s family. A part of the day’s festivities included an Easter egg hunt. It was amazing how Katherine had learned from last week what to do. As soon as we took her out into the yard, she started to pick up eggs and put them in her basket. It got so full and is so big that whenever she would lean over to get an egg several would fall out.

Brusha Brusha Brusha

Katherine has 5 teeth. Therefore we should be brushing her teeth daily. It is hard to remember. I finally opened up her official toddler toothbrush and now I keep it in our bathroom. When she is in there with me while I brush my teeth, I brush hers too. She then loves to hold on to it and chew on it. I think it feels good on her gums.

Yikes, more houdini attempts!

Katherine loves her swing. So why would she try to get out? Who knows. I was messing with my camera and in only a few seconds this is what she was able to accomplish. Yikes!

Bluebonnets

Filed under: Katherine — Christy at 1:27 am on Monday, April 9, 2007

I love bluebonnets and living in Texas you must have an annual picture frolicking in the bluebonnets. The problem is, most of the places I see them are just not safe for photo taking. you can’t very well pull off of LBJ and feel safe about your 13 month old running by the side of the highway.

I read that there was a great place up in Frisco so after Easter lunch at my cousins house we headed over there (he also lives in Frisco). It was a perfect place. We ended up with a few great shots, especially considering it was 4:30 and Katherine had not had a nap and some of the shots were taken while the camera was on the wrong mode.

By the way, for those of you in Dallas, the location is at Zion Cemetary in Frisco. It is right off highway 423 north of El Dorado Parkway.

Easter 1973

Look who else did not enjoy their first visit with the Easter Bunny. He does look kind of frightening.

Thanks to Nana for the vintage photo. Nice outfit Nana.

Sweet Day

Filed under: Katherine — Christy at 11:37 pm on Thursday, April 5, 2007

There is actally no photo for today.

Today was one of those days where nothing specifically great happened but it was just a really good day. One of the highlights was naptime. It was not for the usual reason of being able to have some time tomyself to get things done, but because it was quality time with my baby girl. We were about to pack up and head out the door to go to playgorup #1 for the day. It was only 10 and waaaaay too early for Miss Katherine to take a nap (not because Mama would not love for her to take an earnly nap though). She was a little fussy and had not eaten much for breakfast so I decided to go ahead and nurse her before we left. She fell asleep on my lap and slept for just over an hour. I decided not to try to put her in her crib but to enjoy her. I know that she will not always enjoy sleeping on Mommy’s lap so I need to cherich these moments. Last night I read the blogs of two sweet babies who were not here on earth for very long due to birth defects. So, when Katherine was asleep on my lap, I actually teared up while praising God for my sweet, healthy baby girl.

The rest of the day was less than stellar, she busted her upper lip with her teeth by falling face first onto a wooden toy. Therefore, she was not interested in lunch AT ALL. We had a great trip to the grocery store where no baby tried to escape from her stroller! She ate a whole serving of home made parsnip and apple puree (odd combo and actually quite good.) She promtly spit up/threw up the entire parsnip apple puree onto me. And, she finished up the day at Nana’s house while Mom was at photography class and Dad went to the Dallas Desperado’s game.

It was a great day. I love being a mom.

We have take off

Katherine is a walker! We had thought that given how early she was pulling up and cruising along furniture, she would walk early. Not so. Two weeks ago she was taking 2-3 steps at a time. Rarely she would take a few more. I feared that she would start to walk while we were in California without Sam. Last week she gradually gained her confidence and was taking a few more steps at a time. It was so fun to watch. She takes a few wobbly steps, stops to catch her balance and takes a few more.

Over the weekend I would say she officially became a walker and as of today it seems that she chooses to walk from point A to B as often as she chooses to crawl.

Legacy Pot Luck

Filed under: Friends — Christy at 9:45 pm on Sunday, April 1, 2007

Another monthly pot luck with our former Sunday school class. I sure love these friends and miss fellowshipping with them every week. It was so much fun to watch all of the kids having fun in the back yard. There was a trampoline. Katherine was not sure what to think of it.
